NCC cadets to pedal for social causes

KARIMNAGAR, DEC. 9. The NCC cadets of 9 Andhra battalion, Karimnagar, will organise a six-day cycle expedition rally covering about 300 km in Karimnagar and Medak districts from December 18 to 23.

Disclosing this at a meeting here on Thursday, Lt. Col. and commanding officer, A. K. Jaggi, said the cycle rally would be flagged off from Karimnagar town on December 18 and would cover Dharmapuri, Jagtial, Vemulawada, Sircilla, Siddipet, Husnabad, Huzurabad and reach Karimnagar on December 23. About 18 NCC cadets would participate in the rally.

The aim

The expedition was aimed to promote youth to join the armed forces, educate people about literacy, girl child education, ill-effects of pollution and importance of tree plantation, drive against corruption and AIDS etc. He also called upon the local youth to make use of the Army recruitment rally to be organised at Nizamabad from January 3 to 9.

Later, he distributed prizes to the best performers of the battalion. The battalion bagged the trophy for the best battalion in the region.

Cadets donate blood

About 50 NCC cadets, including girls, donated blood at a camp organised by the 9 Andhra Battalion and the Lions Club of Karimnagar on Thursday. The cadets from SRR Degree College, Government Women's Degree College and Vivekananda Degree College participated in the programme.
