MADURAI, DEC. 9. The Mayor, C. Ramachandran, on Tuesday inspected developmental works being carried out at a cost of Rs.22 lakhs at Lourdhu Nagar. The works included construction of an integrated sanitary complex at a cost of Rs.4 lakhs and 16 other projects to provide basic amenities involving Rs.18 lakhs. Mr. Ramachandran promised to sanction funds for sinking a borewell at Singaravelan Nagar, which had been a long-pending demand of the residents. He instructed the officials to prepare a plan for road expansion at Pandian Nagar, for a link road connecting Pandian Nagar and Mahalakshmi Nagar and for desilting of a sewage canal at Kosakulam.
Mayor thanked
Residents of Sekkizhar Street of Bibikulam thanked the Mayor at a grievance day meeting held at the Corporation office, for ward Nos.1 to 21, for providing water supply. Over 500 families would benefit from the new facility, according to an official release. Similarly, the residents of the Ramavaram Nagar also thanked the Mayor for the timely action initiated to desilt the drainage canal in the area. At the meeting, 93 petitions were received.
