Misty morning forecast

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, DEC. 9.DEC. 9.DEC. 9 The Capital will wake up to a misty / shallow foggy morning on Friday. According to the weatherman, the sky is likely to remain clear throughout the day and minimum temperature is expected to hover around 7 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and the minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Thursday were 23.1 degrees Celsius and 8.5 degrees Celsius respectively. At Palam, the maximum temperature recorded was 22.7 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 6.8 degrees Celsius.

The maximum relative humidity recorded at Safdarjung and Palam was 93 and 37 per cent respectively, while the minimum humidity at the two places stood at 94 per cent and 46 per cent respectively.

Two labourers go missing

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, DEC. 9.DEC. 9.DEC. 9 Two labourers, who had gone inside a sewer for desilting work, got washed away at Shakarpur in East Delhi this morning. Till late, the police and fire brigade personnel were trying to trace them.

According to the police, the labourers, Puran (22) and Riyaz (26), had gone inside a sewer near a medicine store at Radhu Palace around 4-15 a.m. They did not return at the expected time after which the fire brigade was informed. A team of rescue personnel, accompanied by two fire tenders, were pressed into service to trace the two labourers.

However, till late in the evening they had not been able to trace the bodies though the search was still on.

Bhavishya Jyoti Scholarships

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, DEC. 9.DEC. 9.DEC. 9 To reward meritorious college students interested in building a successful career in industries requiring skills in Information Technology, NIIT has announced the 14th Annual Bhavishya Jyoti Scholarship.

Students who have completed their Class XII or equivalent and those currently pursuing graduation are eligible for the scholarships, which apply for the industry endorsed multiple track GNIIT programs.

Based on their performance in a competitive written test, personal interview and their Standard XII score, NIIT will award, Bhavishya Jyoti Scholarships to successful career aspirants. Meritorious students will get fee waivers up to Rs 26,000.

Successful candidates of the recently concluded National IT Aptitude Test 2004 will also be eligible for Bhavishya Jyoti Scholarships. The application forms for the test are currently available across all NIIT education centres in India. The admission test will be held on December 12, 2004.
