Shimoga
By Our Special Correspondent
SHIMOGA, DEC. 10. The State General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Shimoga MLA, K.S. Eshwarappa, said here on Friday that he was shocked by the outbursts of the party's senior leader and Shimoga MP, S. Bangarappa, against the party's leadership. Addressing a press conference here, he expressed confidence that the issue would be sorted out by the leaders through discussions with Bangarappa. Referring to Bangarappa's criticism about the appointment of the new president of the State unit of the BJP, he said that it was the central leaders of the party who were responsible for the appointment. "I am not aware of the circumstances under which Bangarappa as a member of the National Executive of the party made the criticism that all was not well with the BJP," he said. Mr. Eshwarappa said that Mr. Bangarappa's utterances would not make any adverse impact on the party.
Justifies action
Mr. Eshwarappa justified the manner in which he inaugurated the new roads in Shimoga saying, "I am also a politician and not a sanyasi. I am interested in publicising my work to the people and there is nothing wrong in what I have done." His reaction came in response to the comment by the former Shimoga MP Ayanur Manjunath that the BJP was trying to turn government functions into the party affairs in violation of the official protocol. He attributed the confusion in the matter to the delay by the officers concerned in arranging the inauguration of the road work.
