Qualifiers spotted

BANGALORE, DEC.10 The qualifiers were spotted in both the men's and women's singles events of the South Zone table tennis championship at the Sree Kanteerava indoor stadium here on Friday.

In the men's final qualifying round, Sapnil Namjoshi of Maharashtra scored a hard fought 11-8,9-11, 11-4, 6-11, 11-6 win over Nachiketh Chowtha.

In the women's singles, J. Swarna of Tamil Nadu made it to the main draw with a facile 12-10,11-4,11-8 win over Sanjuktha Gogoi of Assam .

The qualifiers:

Men: Soumyajit Sarkar (CoE), Subhadip Das (CoE) , Souvik Basu Roy (Beng) , Md. Ali Bab (AP), Amarnath Das (CoE), Sapnil Namjoshi (Mah), Sayan Paul Roy (SIL) and Subham Kundu (CoE).

Women: Kajal Das (COE), Sayanthika Kundu (Beng), Deepali Zhaveri (Mah), Manasai Bhagwat (Mah), Sumana Bose (RSPB), Pooja (Mah),Sukhanya Bose (SIL) and J. Swarna ( TN).
