NEW DELHI, DEC. 10. Jammu and Kashmir Bank proved far superior to the City College Old Boys from Hyderabad in the opening match of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Friday. The J&K Bank won 3-0 after leading by a goal at half time. Making an appearance in the capital after more than three decades, the Hyderabad outfit disappointed the 1000-odd spectators. Obviously, the Hyderabadis were not in the best physical shape, having arrived only on Friday morning by train. The J&K Bank dominated the match and should have slotted in more goals but for some wayward finishing in either half. The first goal came in the 33rd minute through Deepak Sangral, who pounced on a rebound off goalkeeper Vikramjeet Singh. The Bank team had come close to scoring earlier but Musibau Adebayo failed to direct the ball properly, heading wide on the first occasion from a flag kick. Adebayo made amends in the second half by scoring the second goal while Rizwan Sheikh completed the tally in the closing stages of the match. Before the start a two-minute silence was observed in memory of Dempo Club striker Christiano Junior and Jitender Kumar, a former Delhi player.
