By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
DEC. 10.
The leopard, which strayed into the city and was caught at Jubilee hills, was operated upon to remove a bullet at Nehru Zoological Park here today. The animal was shot at yesterday in a bid to subdue and capture it.
It suffered a bullet injury in the spinal cord.
The zoo curator, B. Srinivas, described the condition of the leopard as stable. "It is under constant observation of the wildlife veterinary expert, Navin Kumar and his team," he said.
Three-hour surgery
The surgery lasted for three hours and Dr. Navin Kumar was assisted by a team comprising Girish, assistant professor (surgery) from Veterinary College and experts from the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB). Dr. Chandra Bhushan of Global Hospitals prescribed medicine for the animal's early recovery.
Mr. Srinivas said the leopard would be under observation for at least another 48 hours.
