Rs. 2.35 lakhs stolen
Thieves took away Rs. 2.35 lakhs in cash from the scooter box of a private firm salesman, P. Vasudev, 36, when he parked the vehicle near Andhra Bank ATM centre at Balanagar on Friday. A resident of Srinivasanagar in Gajularamaram of Jeedimetla, he was building a house in the same locality.
He took Rs. 1.10 lakhs from the house, kept the amount in the scooter box, went to Balanagar Andhra Bank and withdrew Rs. 1.25 lakhs. After keeping the entire amount in the box, he stopped by the ATM centre, withdrew Rs. 7,000 and returned only to find the cash stolen from the box, the police said.
Scientist
ends life
A scientist of the Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Sanjay Kumar Sahu, 25, committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room on the Centre's campus last night. His body was found hanging from the ceiling by another scientist, K. Mahapatra, the Kanchanbagh police said. The victim reportedly slipped into depression complaining of decreasing memory power, police stated.
Freak mishap
A binding shop worker, Ameesh Kumar, 16, who was walking along the track near the Kachiguda railway station, died after he was thrown onto the road due to the wind impact of a MMTS train passing by. The victim was a resident of Esamia bazar, the Kachiguda police said.
