White paper sought on defence promoting industry

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, DEC. 10. The Chairman of India Development Foundation, Vijay. L. Kelkar, on Friday said the Government should come out with a white paper on defence promoting industry. The industry should be encouraged and promoted by the Government, public sector and the Army, Navy and Air Force.

Dr. Kelkar was delivering his address at the seminar on "Emerging challenges for a Resurgent India -- The Military dimension" at the College of Defence Management in Secunderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Saraswat, director, RCI said there was a fundamental shift in military emphasis from classic platform centric warfare (PCW) to network-centric warfare (NCW) concept. Cyber weapons like logic bombs, worms and snipers will have a decisive impact on war, he said.

The Vice Admiral, S. K. K. Krishnan, also spoke. Over 300 delegates participated in the two-day seminar organised by the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad, according to a press release.
