Visakhapatnam
By Our Special Correspondent
VISAKHAPATNAM, DEC. 10. The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) will take up construction of a bridge on the Sudda Gedda lake in Lake View Layout at Madhurawada with a view to providing a direct approach to the residents of the layout. The new Vice-Charman of VUDA, D. Varaprasad, on Friday inspected the layout for a first-hand knowledge of the difficulties faced by the local people in reaching the National Highway No.5 and issued orders to the VUDA officials to take up the construction of the bridge immediately. The proposed bridge would link the existing 80 ft road in the Lake View Layout with the 100 ft road passing through Mithilapuri VUDA Colony. Once the bridge is completed, the 80 ft road will become a thoroughfare and the main approach road for the Lake View Layout as also the VAMBAY Housing colony. It will also reduce the distance and time to reach the NH-5 from the layout by providing a shorter route instead of going round the Sudda Gedda Lake, a VUDA spokesman explained. The Vice-Chairman instructed the Executive Engineer, I. Viswanatha Rao, to initiate immediate action for constructing the bridge, facilitating easy access to the layout from both the 100 ft. road and the national highway, he said.
