Janashakti seeks release of Maoist leader
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
DEC.11.
The CPI (ML) Janashakthi today demanded immediate release of the Maoist leader, Rajaiah. and two APCLC activists, G. Ravi and Purushotham Rao.
In a statement issued here, the Janashakthi State committee member, Sagar, sought an enquiry by a monitoring committee into the police firing on Maoists at Kodiselakunta in Warangal district.
Sagar alleged that combing operations have been intensified after the conclusion of the first round of discussions between the Government and the Maoists along with police repression. These included destruction of memorials and disruption of public meetings. The incidents at Mahabubnagar and Karimnagar and the arrest of Prabhakar, the secretary of West Godavari district unit of the party, showed that the Government was not committed to the ceasefire agreement.
Government criticised
He said these incidents and action of the police showed that the Government was not interested in the second round of talks and was intent on discontinuing the peace process. Statements being made by the Chief Minister, Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, also indicated this.
He demanded immediate stopping of combing operations.
