President of Singapore worships at Tirumala

TIRUMALA. Dec. 11. S. R. Nathan, President of Singapore, accompanied by his wife, Urmila Nandey, arrived at Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara on a two-day pilgrimage on Saturday. Also present in his entourage are his son, Osith, and daughter, Jotika, besides a number of delegates.

The visiting premier along with others offered prayers in the hill temple and stayed overnight in the TTD's Sri Padmavathi Guesthouse. The VIP couple along with the delegates would have another round of darshan on Sunday morning before leaving for Chennai.

On his arrival at Tirumala, Mr. Nathan was received by the SP, Chittoor, V.V. Gopalakrishna, and the TTD Special Officer, A.V. Dharma Reddy. Earlier, the President and his family members along with the delegates reached Tirupati by road in a Tourism Department's deluxe coach and stayed briefly in a hotel before motoring up the ghat road. He was received at the hotel lounge by the Revenue Divisional Officer, Tirupati, B. Rami Reddy, and the local MLA, Venkatramana.
