Police, naxalites exchange fire

WARANGAL,
DEC. 11.
There was an exchange of fire between the police and naxalites at Kodeshalakunta village in the Jakaram forest area of Mulug mandal early this morning.
I. Rajaiah alias Ashok, member of the Lathakka dalam, surrendered to the police while the latter arrested two others, Gunti Ravindra and N. Purushottam Reddy. The Assistant Superintendent of Police, Rajesh Kumar, said that on information that some extremists were camping at Kodeshalakunta village, special parties were sent there. On seeing the police, the naxalites opened fire. The police retaliated. After 10 rounds of firing, one of the two naxalites, Rajaiah, appealed to the police to stop firing, and expressed his willingness to surrender while the other naxal escaped. The police searched the houses in village and took into custody two persons.
