KOTTAYAM, DEC. 11. St. Thomas College, Pala and Assumption College, Changanassery emerged champions in the men's and women's sections respectively in the MG University inter-collegiate athletic meet at the Nehru Stadium here on Saturday. St. Thomas College, Pala logged 80 points to win the title in the men's section. SB College, Changanassery (56) and M.A. College, Kothamangalam (53) finished second and third respectively. In the women's section, Assumption College came first with 101 points followed by Alphonsa College, Pala (84) and M.A. College, Kothamangalam (19). Twelve records were set during the two-day meet and seven of them were set by athletes from Assumption College in the women's section. M.K. Prajeesha (Assumption College) ad C.T. Manjusha (Assumption College) broke the all-India inter-university records in javelin throw and 5km walk respectively. O.P. Jaisha of Assumption College set four meet records - in 1500m, 5000m, 10,000m and half marathon - to become the individual champion in women's section with 20 points. K.
