Randhawa surrenders lead

KUALA LUMPUR, DEC. 11 . Jyoti Randhawa, the overnight leader, stumbled to a 74 with an error strewn third round in the Asian Tour's season-ending Volvo Masters of Asia here on Saturday. Randhawa finished the round with a score of 207, which put him at third place, one ahead of Jeev Milkha Singh, who finished the third round with a 208.

The day belonged to Thailand's Prayad Marksaeng, who shared the lead with veteran Wang Ter-chang of Chinese Taipei. Prayad fired an impressive five-under-par 67 while Wang scrambled to a 69 to finish on 12-under-par 204. Chawalit Plaphol of Thailand was in second place with a 68.Prayad, who has not won a title in Asia since 2000, was in his element with a bogey-free card but needed to make two huge par saves on 16 and 17 to give himself a shot of winning the tournament. The 42-year-old Wang needed to get up and down for pars on five occasions. Four birdies, including a 30-footer on 13, against a bogey was enough to put him on top of the field with Prayad.

The scores: Third round: 204: Prayad Marksaeng (THA) 68-69-67, Wang Ter-chang (TPE) 69-66-69; 206: Chawalit Plaphol (THA) 69-69-68, 207: Jyoti Randhawa (IND) 63-70-74, 208: Ted Oh (KOR) 70-71-67, Jeev Milkha Singh (IND) 67-73-68, Liang Wen-chong (CHN) 68-67-73.
