NELLORE, DEC. 11. A police constable, Srinivasulu, of II town police station, Gudur, was injured on Friday night, when he was allegedly assaulted by a vendor, Muttu, on the police station premises. According to available information, the incident occured when the vendor from Sullurpet area, was brought for questioning. Seeing nobody, except the constable in the station, he reportedly attacked the constable. He was taken into custody and the constable has been sent to hospital for treatment.
Duped?
Members of a thrift group in Sanoor village of Pellakur mandal, were allegedly taken for a ride by some people, who promised consumer articles at a subsidised rate and collected amounts ranging from Rs. 300 to Rs. 400. They claimed that they belonged to an organisation in Srikalahasti of Chittoor district and left the place. However when enquiries were made later, no such institution was found in Srikalahasti.
One injured
One person sustained injuries and had to be hospitalised, when he was attacked by unknown persons, according to the Three Town police station. Police suspect the attack might be linked to sexual jealousy.
