Stone laid for TRS building
The ceremony, which was held with much fanfare, was witnessed by leaders of other parties which are votaries of the Telangana State. The Union Labour Minister and TRS president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, and the Union Minister of State for Rural Development, A. Narendra, took part in the ceremony conducted by heads of three religions. The People's Democratic Front (PDF) president, Mahbooba Mufti, the Rashtriya Lok Dal president, Ajit Singh, the PMK president, P. Ramadoss, the MDMK MP, C. Krishnan, the Indian Union Muslim League MP, Abdul Sattar Mujahid, the Nationalist Congress Party secretary, Gajanand Dalu Guruji, and others were present. Talking to reporters, Mr. Ajit Singh said his party was in favour of smaller States as it would facilitate faster development. He said the demand for Statehood to Telangana was genuine as it was a 50-year old movement which witnessed several sacrifices. Mr. Singh said Telangana State was a certainty even if the Congress went back on its promise to concede the demand.

CPI(M) takes exception to RSS leader's remark
Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Mr. Raghavulu dubbed the allegations as "cheap remarks'' against the stalwart. Taking serious exception to the allegation that Mr. Basu had used public money to arrange a lift for his house, he dared the RSS leader to approach courts in this regard.
State conference
According to the CPI(M) secretary, the party State conference (mahasabha) would be held from January 25 to 28 in Warangal. A massive rally would be organised on January 28, which would be attended by the West Bengal Chief Minister, Buddadeb Bhattacharya, and other senior leaders. The party district committee secretary, Ch. Sitaramulu, announced that the party's district level conference would be held from December 28 to 30 at Nakrekal.
Ex-MCPI activist done to death
According to the police, the deceased, along with his son, was going on a cycle when the miscreants, travelling in an auto rickshaw, dashed against the cycle resulting in both falling on the road. The miscreants swooped on Ramachandraiah and attacked him with lethal weapons, resulting in his instantaneous death. The culprits escaped in the same vehicle. Old enmity was said to be the reason for the murder.

The APNS State president, B. Venkata Rao, the 23rd ward corporator, J. Appala Raju, the Telugu Desam Party's urban district convener, M. Sundaram Patrudu, and others told reporters here on Thursday that they were still groping in the dark on the reasons for excluding their community from BCs list in 1970. Though the subsequent BC commissions headed by Muralidhar Rao and Puttuswamy had recommended their inclusion in the BC category, due to court rulings and others reasons, they had been denied BC status, Mr. Venkata Rao said. He wanted the Congress Government to nominate two members from the community to the proposed State Legislative Council.
