KARIMNAGAR, DEC. 11. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA, Kasipeta Lingaiah, and othersstaged a dharna in front of the SP's camp office here on Saturday demanding the arrest of district TDP leaders, who had "mislead" the police by submitting a false petition about the "missing" of the Union Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, from the district. District TDP leaders, including the spokesperson, Eda Shankar Reddy, had submitted a petition to the police on Friday urging them to find out the whereabouts of Mr. Rao, who had reportedly been missing from the district for the last six months after his election from the Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency. The TDP leaders charged that the Union Minister was indifferent to the plight of farmers and weavers. However, the police had not registered any case in this regard.
`Image' tarnished
The TRS leaders demanded that the TDP leaders be arrested for misleading the police and damaging the Union Minister's `image.' Police sources said the petition turned out to be false and they were seeking the permission of court to initiate criminal proceedings against the TDP leaders. As the incident comes under the purview of Section 177 of IPC and it was a non-cognisable offence, the police were seeking court permission, the sources said.
