NEW DELHI, DEC 11. At an important meeting held today, the Academic Council of the University of Delhi approved the revised syllabi of the B.A. (Hons) Economics and M.Sc Botany courses to be introduced from the next academic year beginning July 2005. In other decisions, the Council approved phasing out of the affiliation and degree conferring arrangements with Sherubtse College, Bhutan, due to the establishment of the Royal University of Bhutan by 2010. Also the Council agreed in principle to consider the request to grant affiliation to the proposed Army Medical College but noted that important issues pertaining to admission including policy on reservation for children of Army personnel, examinations, fees and faculty need to be resolved beforehand. For this the Vice-Chancellor was authorised to constitute a Committee with wide representation including elected members of the Academic Council and a decision would be made only after that. The Council also approved the revised syllabi of various language and courses of the restructured BA programme including -- Arabic, English, Hindi, Persian, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Computer Applications, and Political Sciences.
