NEW DELHI, DEC. 11. The Delhi Tamil Sangam felicitated well-known scientist M.A. Shamsudeen here over the week-end. After 54 years of research, the scientist claims to have come up with a theory on how to prevent earthquakes. Appreciating this feat, the Delhi Tamil Sangam organised a function in Thiruvalluvar Kalai Arangam at R.K. Puram. The Union Minister of State for Law and Justice, K. Venkatapathy, presided over the function and released the project report. He also lauded the 72-year-old scientist for his theory that would be "useful to the entire world''. Promising all possible assistance from the Government, he called upon every Indian to come forward to extend financial and other assistance to the scientist. Also present on the occasion were the director of the SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, Dr. M. Ponnavaikko, and Prof. G. Victor Rajamanickam of the Department of Disaster Management, Shanmuga Arts, Science, Technology and Research Academy, Tamil Nadu. The scientist is likely to travel to the U.S. early next year to present his theory to the United Nations Secretary-General, "dedicating it to the welfare of the world on behalf of the people of India".
