Need for teacher-student rapport stressed

By Our Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA, DEC. 11. It is necessary for a teacher to build close rapport with his pupils to understand their mindset and mould his teaching patterns accordingly, says Director of the Students, Teachers, Educators and Parents (STEP), N. Chowdary Babu.

Addressing a valedictory meeting of a 10-day workshop conducted by the organisation for teachers, Mr. Chowdary Babu narrated his 30-year association with the education profession and emphasized that a teacher should remain committed to his job.

The STEP principal, M. Shakuntala, said the organisation had been conducting training classes for teachers for the past two years. It had enabled the organisation learn new things. She lamented that the present genre of student community was under tremendous pressure by parents and teachers to excel in their academic pursuits. It was an unhealthy trend that killed their creative urge, she lamented. A teacher should adopt new methods but make sure that he catered to the changing needs of the students, she said.

The Director of the Ideal Public School, Krishnalanka , Seeta Mahalakshmi, said such gatherings helped the teachers enhance their knowledge base. Retired lecturer and educationist, Meenakshi and many others participated.
