BANGALORE, DEC. 11. A second year B.Sc. student was found hanging from the ceiling in her Officers Model Colony home in Peenya police station limits on Saturday. Priya, the police said, was a student of St. Joseph's College and had secured low marks in the college examination. Her father, Subbaiah, a retired bank employee, had enquired about the results on Friday and reportedly scolded her, the police said. All the family members later went outside for dinner. Today morning the family members noticed Priya hanging in her room, the police said. In another incident, a 35-year-old woman, Ratnamma of Chikkasandra colony, was found hanging in her house in Soladevanahalli police station limits on Friday. She was employed in a garment factory.
Robbed
A four-member gang assaulted an autorickshaw driver and robbed him of Rs. 3,000 near Victoria Hospital in Upparpet police station limits on Friday night. The police gave the name of the victim as Parashuram (40). Parashuram, the police said, had gone to the city railway station to board a train to Mysore in the evening. Having missed the train, he boarded a city bus and alighted near the hospital and while he was walking, the robbers assaulted and threatened him with a knife and stole the cash, the police said.
Three arrested
The Commercial Street police have arrested three persons on charges of extorting money. The accused, the police said, were related to Tanveer Ahmed, who is now in judicial custody. The police gave the names of the accused as Ibrahim (25) and Nazir (30), both from Shivajinagar, and Nayaz (24) of Rahamath Nagar. They recovered machetes and other weapons from them. The accused were working with Ibrahim, a car dealer and loan recovery agent. The accused were arrested for allegedly extorting money from a shop owner at Safina Plaza on November 29.
Assaulted
Four persons assaulted a labourer with a blunt instrument near the city bus stand in Upparpet police station limits on Friday night. The police gave the name of the victim as Chandra (42). He has been admitted to Victoria Hospital.
Commits suicide
A woman who was suffering from an illness committed suicide at Venkata Gowda Layout in Hebbal police station limits on Saturday, the police said. The police gave her name as Nagalakshmi (30).
