KOCHI, DEC. 11. Bishops of different Christian denominations have warned against divisive forces that are active in the State. The Bishops were taking part in a meeting held today at the Pastoral Orientation Centre here. The Marthoma Metropolitan, Philipose Mar Chrysostom, who presided over the meeting, urged people to react creatively to challenges in the educational and social spheres. The Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, Cardinal Varkey Vithayathil, said only collective action would help in resisting divisive forces in society. The Bishops' Council has been entrusted with chalking out a plan to deal with the issue. The Inter-Church Council for Education has been entrusted with studying the problems in the appointment of principals and teachers in educational institutions. The Bishops expressed concern at the attitude of the Government to the issue of reservation for dalit Christians.
