Gopal triumphs

HYDERABAD, DEC. 12. G. N. Gopal of Kerala, who settled for a draw with S. Arun Prasad of Tamil Nadu in the final round, won the 34th junior National chess championship for the Nutrine Trophy with nine points in Tirupati, according to information received here on Sunday.

IM S. Poobesh Anand of Tamil Nadu was second with 8.5 points.

Purushothaman (8), Saptharshi Roy (7.5) drew with P. Maheshwaran (7.5), Arjun Tiwari (7) bt K. V. Venprakash (7), Ranbeer Singh Bhatia (7) lost to V. Somesh (8), R. Premnath (8) bt C. Praveen Kumar (6.5), Vipal Subhabi (7) drew with M. Vinay Kumar (7), Sohan Phadke (7.5) bt R. Uttam Sharma (6.5), M. R. Lalit Babu (7) drew with Joydeep Dutta (7), Naveen Khanna (6.5) lost to Gurpreet Singh Maras (7), Abhishek Das (7) bt Nishanth (6), K. Sujesh (7) bt Satish Kumar (6), Soham Das (6.5) drew with T.
