QADIAN (PUNJAB), DEC. 12. The BJP president, L.K. Advani, today described the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) as a secular body which ``never indulges in communal hatred or violence''. Addressing a gathering here on the 13th death anniversary of the RSS leader, Ram Prakash Prabhakar, he said the RSS had played a ``constructive role'' during the turmoil in Punjab. ``The RSS was not involved in the 1984 anti-Sikh carnage and this organisation faced the heat of terrorism in Punjab as several of its activists were killed during that phase,'' he said, paying tributes to Prabhakar, who was shot dead by Punjab militants 13 years ago. Mr. Advani criticised the Centre for ``giving priority to the Hurriyat rather than the Pakistan Government while holding talks to resolve the Kashmir crisis. ``The Government is listening more to the Hurriyat than to Pakistan,'' he said.
