NEW DELHI, DEC. 12. The Maharashtra Governor, S. M. Krishna, said that M.S. Subbulakshmi was the "most luminous star in the galaxy of Carnatic and Hindustan classical vocalists and musicians in India. "She may no longer be with us, but I am sure, the legacy of M.S. will continue to survive for many more years to come," he said. In Hyderabad, the Andhra Pradesh Governor, Sushilkumar Shinde, today condoled the death of the renowned classical singer and `Bharat Ratna' M. S. Subbulakshmi. He said, "I am deeply grieved at the passing away of renowned carnatic musician Smt M. .S Subbulakshmi last night." He said that M.S. was undoubtedly the greatest of all classical singers of her time and prayed that her soul would rest in peace. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, said that M.S. enthralled audiences for over five decades with her wide repertoire of carnatic and other classical music forms. She was famous for her mellifluous voice, flawless diction and divine rendering of the Carnatic `krithis' and Hindustani `Bhajans.' M.S. was undoubtedly the greatest of all classical singers of her time and her name would be etched in the history of Indian classical music forever. She would continue to inspire music lovers in the days to come.
