Coimbatore golfers steal the show

TIRUPUR, DEC. 12. Senthil Nathan of Coimbatore Golf Club (CGC) emerged the overall winner of the Ditty Balu Memorial ADD Trophy tournament, a medal round open event, at the Tirupur Golf course here on Saturday.

Sponsored by the Apparel Direction and Design (ADD), Tirupur, the tournament attracted more than 40 golfers from Bangalore, Coimbatore, Tirupur besides foreign participants.

To make it a lively contest for the participants, the organisers had a blind draw in which the scores of the golfers were picked at random and the combination of the scores were given the Blind Draw trophies.

K.K. Chandrasekar (72 nett) & S. Venkatachalam (80 nett) of Tirupur Golf Club stood winners of the partnership under the Blind Draw.

B. Shanmugasundaram of the host club bagged the Best Putting Score Trophy for having scored the least number of putts.

The President of ADD, Sylvester Saldawha, gave away the prizes. R.A. Thirumoorthy, CEO of ADD, organised the event.

The results:

Nett medal round open: Winner: A. Senthil Nathan (CGC) 67 nett; Runner-up: Hariram.

Nett medal round partnership (Blind Draw): Winner: K.K. Chandrasekar (TGC) 72; Runner-up: S. Venkatachalam (TGC) 80 nett.

Best Putting score: B. Shanmugasundaram (TGC) 27 putts/18 holes.
