By Our Staff Correspondent

MYSORE, DEC. 12. The Mysore city police and the Rifle Association of Mysore have invited applications from individuals aged between 25 and 50 years for the Civilian Rifle Training Course (CRTC) scheduled in the second week of January.

According to a press release from the Mysore City Police Commissioner, Pravin Sood, the training is open for both men and women. During the six-day course, participants will be trained in basic rifle drill, firing positions, aiming rules, and principles of good firing.

At the end of the training course, the successful participants will be given actual shooting practice at the firing range, he said.

The purpose of course was not only to teach civilians how to use firearms for self-protection, but also to enhance self-confidence. "Such camps also serve to improve the police-public relationship through the principle of partnership," Mr. Sood said.

Those interested can collect the applications from any police station.

The completed forms have to be submitted at the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police, CAR, Mysore, between 10.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. on working days along with a fee of Rs. 50. A batch of 30 will be selected for training.

The selected applicants will have to bear the cost of ammunitions for the course, amounting to Rs. 300. The last date for submitting applications is December 25, Mr. Sood added.
