HARARE, DEC. 12. Zimbabwe Cricket chairman Peter Chingoka and his board of directors will battle to hold their jobs after a motion of no-confidence against them set up a special meeting on December 22. Mashonaland Cricket Association, the country's biggest provincial cricket organisation, instigated the no-confidence bid against Zimbabwe's cricket bosses in the wake of England's problematic tour of Zimbabwe last month, the loss of two major sponsors, and a controversial name change. The Mashonaland executive was angry the Zimbabwe Cricket Union was rebranded to Zimbabwe Cricket without proper consultation with stakeholders, and set up the meeting. Chingoka claimed on Thursday that the rebranding was approved two years ago, but proper procedure was not carried out because he wanted to take advantage of the England tour. He apologised ``for the delay in regularising this matter due to time constraints,'' and added: ``I accept that communication on this exercise could have been better than it was.'' Mashonaland general manager Givemore Makoni wasn't impressed. ``Clearly that is not good enough. So we have gone ahead with our motion,'' Makoni said. AP
