dated December 14, 1954: Indian team for Pakistan

The Maharajkumar of Vizianagaram, President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, announced on December 13 that the following seven players had been selected to tour Pakistan in addition to the 10 already chosen: D.G. Phadkar, V.L. Manjrekar, C.D. Gopinath, H.T. Dani, J. Patel, P. Bhandari and C.G. Borde. The 17 players, led by their Captain, Mankad, with Mr. Amarnath as manager, will leave Calcutta on December 27 by a chartered plane for East Pakistan. The Vice-Captain of the team would be Umrigar and the selection committee in Pakistan would consist of Mankad, Umrigar and the manager. The 10 players already selected are Mankad, Umrigar, Ramchand, Ghulam Ahmed, Gupte, Roy, Punjabi, Gadkari, Mantri and Tamhane.
