BELGAUM, DEC. 13. S.R. Nayak, judge of the Karnataka High Court, has called upon professionals in medicine, law and education to bring in "self-regulation'' and uphold professional value systems. He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop on law and medicine organised by the K.L.E. Society's Hospital and Medical Research Centre here on Sunday. He said professions such as medicine, law and teaching were noble and thus demanded greater commitment to professional ethics and value systems. Instead of having regulations being imposed externally, the professionals should ensure self-regulation. Mr. Nayak also expressed concern over the mushrooming of pathological laboratories and nursing homes that resort to unscrupulous methods. Prabhakar Kore, MLC and chairman of the society, and M.V. Jali, hospital director, were present.
