A run for harmony

NEW DELHI DEC. 13. "We are running for the health, happiness and harmony of all'' was the message spread by over 700 students of Delhi Public School in Ghaziabad near here on Sunday.

The run was flagged off by cricketer Ajay Jadeja and led by international marathoner Sunita Godara and 14 other international runners.

The run was organised as part of the school's silver jubilee celebrations. "The run was organised on three routes covering the entire city with the motive to propagate the cause of health, happiness and harmony. We give adequate emphasis on creating social awareness. The run also reiterates our commitment for "ekayan'' or spirit of oneness," said the Principal, Rita Kapur.

Surgeons cautioned

NEW DELHI DEC. 13. Measures should be taken to prevent wrong-site surgery, said the president-elect of the Delhi Medical Association, K. K. Aggarwal, while speaking during a health care camp organised in the city by the Heart Care Foundation of India.Dr Aggarwal said it has been estimated that one in five orthopaedic surgeons would operate on the wrong site in his or her career. To improve patient safety, preoperative surgical site marking has become mandatory in the U.S. hospitals.

The same should be adopted in India also, he added.
