Railways doubles penalty for overloading
NEW DELHI: In order to effectively plug revenue leakages, the Railways has doubled the penalty for overloading of railway wagon beyond the stipulated capacity to six times the freight rates applicable to the highest class. The Railways Ministry has modified the relevant rules. The new rules come in the wake of recent detection of large scale overloading of wagons during the surprise raids.
