Reliance Industries won the `Petrochemicals Company of the Year' award at the 2004 Platts Global Energy Awards in New York. The Executive Director of Reliance Industries, H. S. Kohli, received the award.
NEW DELHI, DEC. 13. Reliance Industries has bagged the `Petrochemicals Company of the Year' at the sixth annual Platts Global Energy Awards ceremony in New York, U.S. This is the first year in which Platts has presented an award in the category of `Petrochemicals Company of the Year.' H. S. Kohli, Executive Director of Reliance Industries, received the award for Reliance Industries at an award function attended by industry leaders from around the world. Mr. Kohli said this global recognition for Reliance Industries was on account of the visionary leadership of the Founder Chairman, Dhirubhai Ambani, in building global capacities, quality and competitiveness in the petrochemical industry in India. "The award acknowledges the increasing importance of petrochemicals manufacture and marketing as an integral part of the energy complex. It is believed that the future of oil and gas hydrocarbons may well lie in the ever-increasing integration of the petrochemicals industry and market into the industry as a whole,'' the RIL said in a statement issued here today.. Besides Reliance Industries, other short-listed companies for the award included Eastman Chemical Company of the U.S. and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) of Saudi Arabia. Platts is a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies.
