KURNOOL, DEC. 13. The chairman of the AP State Minorities Commission, Justice Sayyad Sadathulla Hussain, reviewed the welfare programmes implemented in the district here on Monday. The member of the commission, Yusufuddin, and the Collector, Vikas Raj, were present. He told officials that 7 per cent of houses under the housing programme in rural areas and 10 per cent in urban areas should be given to minorities. The Inspector of the Wakf Board, Basha, said repairs were carried out with Rs 40.64 lakhs in the district. The district revenue officer said 26,660 acres of land was available for maintenance of 4,160 institutions in the district. The chairman wanted to know the reason for the shadikhana not being used by people at Yemmiganur. The officials said local people did not prefer it because of existence of graveyard close to the building. Muslim elders urged the commission to take steps for protection of wakf properties in the district.
