SUBRAHMANYA (DAKSHINA KANNADA), DEC. 13. The Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, today reiterated that the Ministry will be expanded on Wednesday with nine Congress and 11 Janata Dal (S) Ministers. Speaking to the presspersons after visiting the Subrahmanya temple, he said the Janata Dal (S) leaders are happy now that the date has been fixed and everything appears to be falling in place. The Governor is expected to return to Bangalore on Tuesday evening, and the new Ministers will be sworn in on Wednesday, he said.
`My prerogative'
Refusing to divulge the names of those to be included in the Ministry from the Congress, Mr. Singh said it is the Chief Minister's prerogative to choose his Ministers. The Government is stable and is all set to go full steam ahead once the new Ministers are inducted, Mr. Dharam Singh said. He said the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, had assured him that a Coastal Special Economic Zone would be established in Mangalore.
Special packages
Talking about the special packages announced for some districts, Mr. Singh said the packages are an additional incentive for growth. Bidar and Gulbarga, for which packages have been announced, need a special growth impetus, he said. The appointment of the new chairpersons of boards and corporations will be completed within the next fortnight. Refuting the Opposition charge that over 23,000 files have piled up in his office, he said there are about 1,300 files that need his attention out of which he is disposing of at least 300 files every day. Earlier, Mr. Singh opened Ashlesha guesthouse constructed by the temple.
