NEW DELHI, DEC. 13. A delegation of Members of Parliament from the National Democratic Alliance is to leave for Chennai tomorrow evening to visit the Kanchi Mutt. They will not visit the Kanchi Sankaracharya, Sri Jayendra Saraswati, in the Vellore jail, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Sushma Swaraj, said today. Permission would not be given for a delegation to visit the Acharya, Ms. Swaraj told reporters today. The delegation plans to visit the Mutt to look into allegations that the police, while investigating the murder of Sankararaman, had harassed the administrators and employees of the Mutt. Three BJP MPs will be part of the delegation Balbir Punj, Rasa Singh Rawat and Jayabehn Thakkar. The Shiv Sena will be represented by Sanjay Nirupam, the Biju Janata Dal by B.J. Panda and the Trinamool Congress by Dinesh Trivedi, Ms. Swaraj, who is also the BJP deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, said. Till this evening, the Janata Dal (United) had not named its representative. Ms. Swaraj said the delegation would talk to people who work at the Mutt on Wednesday morning and return to the capital the same evening. A formal report would be submitted later to the NDA Chairman, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
