Karnatak Arts College wins overall title

KUMTA (UTTARA KANNADA DIST.), DEC. 13. Karnatak Arts College (Dharwad), with 86 points, pipped JSS College (Dharwad, 81 points) to claim the overall title in the Karnatak University inter-collegiate athletic meet, which concluded here on Sunday.

R. Sharatraj of Basaveshwar College (Gadag) and Karnatak Arts' Santosh Hosmani shared the individual honours for men, while Sangita Hirehalli of Karnatak Arts and JSS's Shalini Joshi shared the title in the women's section.

Men: 200m: Vilas Nilagund (Basaveshwar), 21.86s (New Meet Record); 400m: Santosh Hosmani (Karnatak Arts); 1,500m: Ramesh Dhavane (JSS), 4:1.66s; 110m hurdles: Santosh Hosmani (Karnatak Arts); 1,500m: Ramesh Dhavane (JSS); 5,000m: Mahesh Bhosle (JSS); Half marathon: Shankarappa Rahutar (KSS, Gadag); Pole vault: Suresh Ambiga (Baliga, Kumta); Hammer throw: Basvaraj Kambar (Karnatak Arts); Triple jump: Suraj Patil (RLS, Belgaum); Shot put: R. Sharatraj (Basaveshwar); 4x100m relay: Karnatak Arts; 4x400m relay: Karnataka Arts (Santosh Hosmani, B. Sudhir, V. S. Kulkarni and S. M. Santosh).

Women: 200m: Laxmi Kedia (SDM, Honavar); 400m: Shweta Hanjagimath (Karnatak Arts); 1,500m: Sangita Hirehalli (Karnatak Arts); 10,000m: Sangita Hirehalli (Karnatak Arts); Half marathon: Sangita Hirehalli (Karnatak Arts); 100m hurdles: Deepa Gunagi (Govt. College, Karwar); Triple jump: Shalini Joshi (JSS); Hammer: Vaishali Varajar (Shivaji, Baad); Shot put: Ashwini Palankar (Divekar, Karwar); 4x100m relay: JSS College (Shalini Joshi, Rekha Kadlgundi, Renuka Gogeri and Deepa Jogannavar); 4x400m relay: JSS College (Shalini Joshi, J. Deepa, Renuka and Rekha Kadligond).
