WARANGAL, DEC. 13. The Board of Apprenticeship Training, Southern Region, Chennai, has set up a centralised selection centre for intermediate vocational courses at the Placement Cell, Kakatiya University here. Inaugurating the centre, the Registrar, N. Satyanarayana, advised students to equip themselves with technical skills along with academic qualifications. He assured that the university would help them in identifying jobs and secure them a placement. Krupa Shankar of the Board, explaining the salient features of the apprenticeship scheme, said there were plenty of apprentice vacancies in various organisations. The scheme provided educated unemployed youth practical exposure in various industries. D. Nageswar Rao of APNPDCL, Warangal, said trained youth had an edge over direct recruits and explained about the apprenticeship schemes available with the organisation. The Director, State Institute of Vocational Education, District Vocational Officer, S. Suryanarayana, Atchamamba, the Director, Placement Cell, Ravi Prakash, and others were present. Several organisations such as SCCL, APNPDCL, Presume Industries and others took part in the function and notified for about 400 apprentice vacancies.
