HYDERABAD, DEC. 13. The Revenue Minister, Dharmana Prasada Rao, on Monday committed a faux pas when he announced the "passing away" of the former Prime Minister, P. V. Narasimha Rao, at a meeting of Panchayat Raj Secretaries here. Mr. Narasimha Rao is convalescing at a hospital in New Delhi where his condition improved significantly on Monday. Acting on a message on a piece of paper passed on to him, the Minister conveyed the "sad news", to the meeting. Later the meeting was closed abruptly after observing "silence" for two minutes. Incidentally, the meeting was attended by the Backward Classes Welfare Minister, Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, a relative of Mr. Narasimha Rao and some Congress leaders. The Revenue Minister later expressed regrets for his statement, which he said was based on "misleading and misinforming news" passed on to him at the meeting held at Satya Sai Nigamagam. He apologised to the public, the family members of Mr. Narasimha Rao, the media and the Panchayat Raj Secretaries.
