NEW DELHI, DEC. 13. Three alleged drug peddlers were arrested by the Narcotics Branch of the Delhi police from different parts of the Capital this past week. Two kg of heroin and three kg opium were recovered from their possession. The Narcotics Branch sleuths received a tip-off that some persons would come near Nigambodh Ghat to supply heroin and opium consignments to their client on Saturday. Subsequently, they raided the place and arrested two of the suspects, who identified themselves as Balu Singh and Karan Singh. Both are residents of Mandaur in Madhya Pradesh from where fine quality heroin is supplied not only to different parts of the country but also to some foreign destinations. The police recovered one kg heroin and three kg opium from their possession. During interrogation, Balu disclosed that he comes from a poor agricultural background. He did his graduation in science and took up a job in Rajasthan Textiles Mills at Bhawani Mandi. Recently, he came in contact with Karan Singh, who lured him into the drug trade by offering him good returns. From the accused, the police have come to know about the heroin supplier and are trying to track him down. In another case, a resident of Chittorgarh in Rajasthan, Mohan Lal, was arrested the same day from the main gate of Millennium Park at Sarai Kale Khan in South Delhi on the charge of possessing one kg heroin. During interrogation, he disclosed that after doing graduation, he was pursuing a certificate course in Organic Agriculture from Udaipur. However, he did not any money to pay for the course fee of Rs.35,000 due to which he took to drug peddling. Meanwhile, the North Delhi police arrested Mohammad Ayub, a resident of jhuggi cluster in Central Delhi after about 2 kg ganja was recovered from him at Sadar Bazar on Sunday. Investigations revealed that Ayub had procured the consignment from Muzaffarpur in Bihar and was planning to dispose it of in the Sadar Bazar area.
