BANGALORE, DEC. 13. Two youths entered the house of a doctor in Banashankari police station limits on Sunday night and robbed her of gold ornaments worth Rs. 30,000. The police said that around 8 p.m., two youths went to the house of H.N. Gayathri on 15th Cross, Padmanabhanagar, and called out the name of her husband, Lakshmanaiah, a retired Assistant Executive Engineer. When Dr. Gayathri, who was alone at the house, opened the door, the two youths entered the house, threatened her and robbed her of a pair of gold bangles and a chain, the police said. On a complaint by Dr. Gayathri, Chief Medical Officer, Government Hospital, K.R. Puram, the Banashankari police have registered a case.
Journalist robbed
A youth snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 8,000 from a journalist in Palace Guttahalli on Sunday night. The police said that the chain was snatched from Yashodha Muthanna, a reporter with Udayavani, when she was waiting for a bus at around 8 p.m.
House burgled
Burglars broke into the house-cum-office of Adolf Sehaett, who runs a non-governmental organisation with assistance from a German agency, at Jayamahal on Sunday, and took away with Rs. 1.4 lakhs in cash, 7,000 euros and electronic gadgets worth Rs. 4 lakhs.
Man falls to death
A 24-year-old man, who allegedly tried to burgle a flat in an apartment complex in Malleswaram, died after he jumped from the fifth floor to escape from the police on Sunday evening. The police said that around 6.45 p.m., Chandrashekar (24) of T. Narsipura taluk in Mysore district allegedly broke into the flat of the Benegals on the fifth floor of Shashikiran Apartments on 18th Cross, Malleswaram. On returning from a walk, the Benegal couple saw a man in their bedroom and locked the door from outside. They alerted the police. Chandrashekar, who went to the balcony of the flat through the rear door, jumped from there. The police rushed him to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. The police said that while they were taking the youth to the hospital, he identified himself as Chandrashekar. The Malleswaram police have registered a case.
ATM damaged
Burglars smashed the glass panes of the State Bank of India's automatic teller machine (ATM) in Jeevanbimanagar police station limits in the early hours of Monday. The police said the incident occurred around 1.30 a.m. at the ATM situated at the junction of Suranjandas Road and 10th Main, Jeevanbimanagar.
