NEDUMBASSERY, DEC. 14. The Tourism Minister, K.C. Venugopal, today said that projects worth Rs. 76 crores for the development tourism in the State have been submitted for approval of the Union Government. Talking to reporters at the Nedumbassery airport, Mr. Venugopal, said that backwater tourism and high-range tourism would be promoted in a big way. The number of personnel under the Tourism Police wing would be increased. As part of tourism development, the State would give shape to a `Vazhiyoram' (wayside) project whereby rest centres would be built on the way to prominent tourist centres. Private participation will be invited for this project. Private parties will have to find the land and the State will finance the construction of rest centres, he said.
