We were denied justice by Chandy: Jacob

By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC. 14. The Kerala Congress (Jacob) leader, T. M. Jacob, MLA, has said the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, had denied natural justice to his party by not including its nominee in the Cabinet.

Addressing a press conference here today, Mr. Jacob said the Chief Minister had not been able to function in a democratic way and was not consulting the partners of the ruling coalition. Mr. Chandy is undecided on crucial issues facing various sectors and the State is plunging into one controversy after another.

Cabinet berth

The former Minister said the decision not to include the party's nominee in the Cabinet was taken by the Chief Minister without holding any discussion with the other UDF partners.

"I had written twice to Mr. Chandy demanding a copy of the complaint reportedly given by the Kerala Congress(M) leader and Revenue Minister, K. M. Mani, in connection with the election to the Muvattupuzha Lok Sabha seat. But, Mr. Chandy refused to give a copy," Mr. Jacob said.

The decision of the UDF liaison committee to solve all issues that had come up in connection with Muvattupuzha and Adoor Lok Sabha election results through bilateral discussions was sabotaged by Mr. Chandy after he became the Chief Minister, he alleged.

Public meetings

The party has decided to organise public meetings in the coming days from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram to spread the message of the resolutions.

Kunhalikutty issue

On the resignation of the Industries Minister, P.K. Kunhalikutty, Mr. Jacob wondered why Mr. Chandy could take a conclusive decision on the issue. The High Court's observations while postponing the ice-cream parlour sex racket case following the ill-health of the State Attorney, P. C. Iype, is an "insult" to the entire State, Mr. Jacob added.
