AMBALA, DEC. 14. Special CBI judge M. M. Sharma granted bail to the former Haryana Minister, Kartar Singh Bhadana, here today. The court ordered Bhadana to furnish surety of Rs 1 lakh which was done by Om Parkash Aggarwal, a close confident of the HPCC president, Bhajan Lal. Bhadana is leader of BJP and had joined the party after resigning as Cabinet Minister in the Chautala Ministry. Bhadana, who was present in the court, withdrew his anticipatory bail application filed earlier and presented another for regular bail, which was granted by the CBI special judge. Bhadana, in his application, stated that he was falsely implicated in the case due to political considerations. The CBI had filed a charge- sheet in the special court on November 22 last against the former minister and others in a case of illegal mining at Faridabad, which was registered against them in the year 2001. The High Court had issued directions for CBI enquiry on the petition filed by a Faridabad resident Subhash Sharma who had alleged that large- scale illegal mining was being carried out in the area.
