THRISSUR, DEC. 14. Excise authorities have opened a round-the-clock district-level control room to prevent the flow of illicit liquor during Christmas and New Year celebrations. According to an official release received here today, the public can contact the control room operating at Ayyanthole on telephone number 2362002 to pass on any information on the use, sale and transport of illicit liquor. The Excise flying squad will conduct frequent inspection of vehicles on national highways and other main roads, the release said.

The flying squads can be contacted at Thrissur on telephone number 2368014, at Vadanappilli on 229005, at Irinjalakkuda on 2700724 and at Kodungallur on 2809390. Special raids and patrolling will be conducted in areas where offences are frequently reported. Toddy shops, Indian Made Foreign Liquor outlets and bars will be raided regularly and samples sent for chemical examination. Traditional medicine shops will also raided, the release said.
