Brigadier sacked

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, DEC. 14. The Army has sacked the commander of an infantry brigade here for alleged illegal sale of liquor and other irregularities.

The officer, who is a Brigadier, has also been sentenced to nine months' rigorous imprisonment, according to official sources. Action against two other officers — a colonel and a major — of the same brigade is also contemplated.

The commander of the 35 Infantry Brigade, R. P. Singh, was tried on a number of charges — brought by the military intelligence — under the Army Act. The lapses included the intent to defraud and illegal sale of liquor.
