Kurnool
By Our Staff Reporter
KURNOOL, DEC. 15. Uncertainty prevailed over supply of water to rabi crop under Tungabhadra Low Level Canal (LLC) in Kurnool district. The Irrigation Advisory Board (IAB) which met recently proposed to supply water for 60 days beginning December 16 for rabi crop using the remaining quota of water in the TB dam. However, the proposal was sent to the government for ratification. Irrigation officials were in a dilemma as no communication was received from the Government even 12 hours before the time for release of the water. The LLC supply for khariff season ended on Wednesday.
Delayed decision
Meanwhile, it is said that there was delay in taking a formal decision as required water was not available in the reservoir since the High Level Canal supplying to Anantapur district withdrew more water than its quota. The LLC had to forego two tmcft from its quota. Farmers were in a bind over sowing the rabi crop as there was no commitment from the Government.
