Pondicherry
PONDICHERRY, DEC. 15. The Pondicherry unit of the All-India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU) today urged the State Women's Commission to direct the Administration to pay relief to women workers for whose health was affected because of working in a glass container unit here a couple of years ago. The AICCTU president, S. Balasubramanian, who filed a petition before the Commission, said the council also pleaded for directives on speedy implementation of the report on the "hazardous conditions in the industry." (The enquiry committee was constituted in March last year by the administration in the wake of complaints that women workers fell sick because of hazardous conditions.)
