Melodramatic

Sir, — Indian television bahu and BJP member, Smriti Irani, demanded the resignation of the Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, only to withdraw it later.

Ms. Irani should know that while such melodrama is good for increasing TRP ratings, in political life they will only bring egg on her face.

Sir, — The episode was embarrassing for the BJP as well as its supporters. It shows that the party that always sings the song of discipline has lost its own tune.

Sir, — After Uma Bharti's outbursts, the Smriti Irani episode has done a lot of damage to the already battered image of the BJP. The party's leaders should think twice before wooing television and film stars to strengthen their rank and file on the eve of elections.
